7th/8th Grade Projects

7th and 8th graders had a project due today covering a historical day in American History. As part of their project they also had to dress up as someone who might have been present at their particular event. Here are some for you to enjoy. Here is our weatherman covering the Tri-state tornadoes. I loved the umbrella. Next we have the pilot of the plane which dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.
A Russian military man who fought at Stalingrad.
An American soldier who fought in Iraq.
Here we have one of the travelers on the Titanic....I would probably guess lower class. He said he survived though because he had a blanket.
Sitting Bull at the Battle of Little Big Horn...and yes Sitting Bull wore a hat too, not just feathers.
A prisoner from Alcatraz. Don't ask me how she escaped. She still has her handcuffs on.
A lovely lady fighting for a woman's right to vote.
And of course we have our NASA scientist who was working during the explosion of the Challenger.
More NASA scientists...these ones actually helped during the first landing on the moon. And then a very happy widow of one of our fine sailors at Pearl Harbor.

We Say Goodbye to a Wonderful Dog

My parents dog, Copper, died last night without any warning. We only had her for a little while, but she was so special to all of us in one way or the other. We thank God for the little blessing he brought into our lives 6 years ago. Three things I know...she had the best ears, was a sweet friend to all, and I loved her with my whole heart! I'll miss you very much Copper.

Christmas Memories '10

My favorite part of Christmas is seeing Mom and Dad's family room all decorated at Christmas with the fire going. I can stay in there for hours. And of course we have the lovely living room Christmas tree.
I had to take a picture of the nativity, of course, because everyone and every animal gets to look at Jesus. Right Nathan?
And, of course, I had to get a close up of the fire. So pretty. Just another special part of Christmas. And then......
My Final Memory...her. What did she get into now? First, she ripped into some of my presents for Mom and now this. I mean it was country gravy mix afterall, and I'm sure that tastes pretty good. She can't help being a cute bad dog. Just look at that face. It screams, Forgive me Mom.

White House Memory

I know some of you have been waiting for pictures of where I fainted in the White House. Well, here you go. There is the door that I fainted into. Here is a closer view of the door.
Here you can see the door opened and where I was standing outside of it. Yeah, that flower arrangement was where I was standing before I fell. It wasn't those flowers, but you get the idea.

Rochester Lights

Dad and I were in Rochester the other night and had a chance to see their downtown lights.

Tinkerbell

The girls received a Tinkerbell movie for Christmas. So Aunt The-The put it on her laptop so they could enjoy watching it on her bed. Claire was the only one who watched the movie the whole way through and then asked if she could watch it again. She loves Tinkerbell.

December Bulletin Board

It is my turn for the main bulletin board at school. I picked December. Usually I make my bulletin boards funny, but this time, I decided to do something a little different. My students really like it and had fun watching me make the stained glass window. I had one student of mine say, "Oh, Miss Reed, you are such a good artist". Haha...good one.

Cookies and Christmas Trees

The Senior Youth got together today to make some Christmas trees and cookies for the shut-ins from our church. The best time came when we dropped off the gifts and saw everyone's smiles.

My Lost Frisbee

When dad visited me a year and a half ago, I had him take me to the Air and Space Museum, so that I could get a cool orange frisbee. This thing just slices the air and is so fast. Yeah, so the first time I've ever used it, I took it to school so the kids and I could throw it back and forth. Well, Josh Klug got ahold of it and threw it really high up in the air so the wind could catch it, since it was a little windy outside. However, he didn't think before he did it. So, his funny throw turned out to be not as funny for him. Now it's in a tree in someone's yard, right next to our property. Josh has already lost two gym balls trying to knock it out of the tree. No success for him, and two balls over the neighbor's fence. He owes me now! Can you find it?

Chess Game

This is called the Chess Game. It's in a park in downtown Washington. Thought I'd show you.
Sometimes when you are between lanes of traffic and waiting for a light, you just have to take a picture.

Leaving Daycare

One of our sweet little daycare students is leaving us for good due to a switch in mom's job. Jeff and I really loved her big personality. She was always the last student to leave daycare each day too. So, we will miss her alot. We each just had to take one last picture with her. :)

Trunk or Treat

This year at Trunk or Treat, Jeff decided he would be a nerd and his mom and I would be his books. I wanted to be pirates, but oh well. Next time. It was so cold that night, that we actually packed up much earlier than expected and spent the rest of the time indoors. One woman had her car represent Jonah and the whale. Can you see it?
Jeff, the Nerd, and Josh is what we liked to call "the Unabomber or Americanized Taliban". Nice book that Jeff picked. We were close to Reformation afterall.

Red Ribbon Week

For Red Ribbon Week we helped an organization called A-SPAN, which stands for Arlington Street People's Assistance Network. We did all types of things for them that week, including collecting new socks, coloring brown paper bags for the nightly meals they give out, and also walking to bring more awareness to the organization. Here are some pictures from our walk. We even received nice shirts, which I have since used to help dust my furniture at home. :)
It was a nice experience for the kids.
