Andy and I love going to Dim Sum in Silver Spring. It's at a restuarant called Oriental East and it is amazing. There literally is a line going down the block each morning waiting for the doors to open. Not everyone gets a seat and there are people crammed into the entrance waiting for a seat to be available. It's usually a 45 minute wait every time, so if you get in the line outside too late, you'll have to wait awhile.
Dim Sum is a Cantonese tradition which consists of a wide variety of steamed, baked, and fried appetizer-sized treats. Basically, it is little dishes that come around on these carts. You pick what you like when they come by and the servers mark on a card what you took. At the end, you take your card up and pay for what you ate. It really is fun. We certainly have our favorite dishes.
These are just some of the dishes. Below on the left are pork ribs and on the right is chicken feet.
On the right is taro dumplings and on the right is stuffed eggplant with shrimp paste.
On the far right is radish cakes.
You see on the left are baked roast pork buns. In the middle is Roast Duck with Sweet rice in Lotus Leaves. On the right is Shui Mai, which is Shrimp and Pork. And of course, you must have tea.
