Spinning Paper

This is the new toy of Miss Reed's that all the kids just find so cool. I keep telling them that its just paper. They have all been wanting to play with it and spin it around.

Snow Day

Guess what...we did have a snow day on Monday with only 1.8 inches on the ground. So, I spent my evening putting this cabinet together for my bathroom. Looks nice!

A New Strange Land

Ok...at first I thought the stories about snow in Virginia and how people go crazy was funny and now I think they are just sad. Only a few hours have passed since my first photos. This is what it looks like outside now. Notice where you see the ruler in the snow...that's my finger showing you the 1 inch mark. So far our youth event tonight has been cancelled, I had to cancel an 8th grade parent meeting to go over our class trip, and in the few seconds I was outside just a moment ago, I heard more sirens go off then ever before. B R O T H E R! I even had one person call me and ask me if I was going to be able to drive in it. I had to refrain myself from saying.."drive in what..snow..where?" I just talked to Barb Huehn and she said she saw a plow go by her townhouse...to plow what we are still trying to figure out.

First Snow

Our first snow here in Virginia and its January 21st. I never thought I'd see it come. Of course it's just a little dusting of snow so far, but it's getting heavier. The pictures aren't that good, put I was taking them through a screen. Hey, maybe I won't have school tomorrow!

Baltimore, MD

I was in Baltimore this past weekend for a youth event called Quake. We really had an awesome time. The two main speakers were wonderful and related so well to the kids. One of the speakers Agapa, whose real name is Dave, is a Lutheran hiphop rapper artist. I had never heard of him but I've been looking into him and he is very big apparently, has about 6 CD's out, and is very good. Anyway, the kids loved him and I also got hooked and had to buy his latest CD. His is the first picture of this set. It was crazy hat day, so that's why he looks like that. The other two pictures aren't of him.

Geography Bee

The Geography Bee took place last Wednesday. One of my 6th Graders, Steven, won. It was nice having the whole school there to watch, even though the little ones had a hard time being quiet. I was the official judge of the Bee. What power!

Bingo Night

Bingo Night at Our Savior. It was alot of fun. On one round I was actually the first person to call out bingo, so I got to get a prize from the first call bingo table. Of course I came away with glittery silly putty. The prizes were geared more toward kids. But, it was a good time all around.

Teacher Bulletin Board

Each month a teacher gets the big downstairs bulletin board to make up. I was given January as my month to decorate the board. Here is what I ended up with. I’ve already had a few teachers pop in late tonight while I was working and their words were, “That is so adorable”. Success!!! Thanks Mom for the idea of penguins!

Rugs

Here are the rugs in my apartment that I got for free from Teresa. The first one is the one I received when I moved in and the second one is what I just got yesterday.

Dec. 23 Night

Allison, Matt, Nathan and I decided to head into Washington D.C. last night for a quick look at the lights. Here is the National Christmas tree in front of the White House. There's a picture of the White House too. Sorry, we decided not to waste camera space on the National Menorah decoration.
